Kirsty is a qualified workshop leader - having trained in community music at Goldsmiths College, London. She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners' Network and is a prolific vocal composer. Festivals, theatre groups, colleges, social service projects and corporations have all benefited from her enthusiastic and empowering work. She continues to teach locally, as well as travelling throughout Britain and Europe to share her musical vision. Kirsty has an energetic and inclusive approach to singing and vocal exploration, which inspires and brings out the best in those she works with. Her style is relaxed, affirming and fun, using a variety of warm-ups, games and exercises to create a positive space for in-depth work with rhythm, harmony, improvisation and song writing. Her inspiration comes from many forms of music - from mediaeval to Motown, folk to funk, and doowop to hip hop! She enables everyone to discover their natural and powerful voice, so that singing will become what you thought it always could be - creative, fun and personally liberating!
Kirsty has written specially commissioned songs for many choirs, groups and projects including Tongue and Groove, Walcot State Choir, Cycle of Songs, and Brighton Festival. This is a direct, enjoyable and interactive way for choirs to choose their repertoire, share their ideas, and hear them realised in the written piece. She is a versatile writer and is influenced by many musical genres. Working with the specific requests of the group, Kirsty creates unique a cappella soundscapes!
